We make great content. We try not to cost the earth doing it.

Klaxon Studio recognises its responsibility to protect the environment, and we aim to go beyond the minimum legal requirements across the UK. That means embedding sustainable practice into our business strategy and our day-to-day operations, including every aspect of our filming and production work, not treating it as a box to tick.

Environmental awareness is the shared responsibility of every employee, freelancer and contractor we work with. Everyone on a Klaxon shoot is expected to consider the impact of their actions and contribute to the aims below.

Where it applies

Paper use

  • Minimise paper use across all operations and on set.
  • Use recycled and recyclable paper wherever possible.
  • Promote digital call sheets, scripts and production notes over printed ones.
  • Reuse and recycle any paper we do use.

Energy & water

  • Reduce energy and water consumption in the office and on location.
  • Use energy-efficient lighting, including LED, and avoid unnecessary generator use.
  • Turn off lights, kit and electrical equipment when not in use.
  • Source renewable energy where it's available.

Office & set supplies

  • Hire, borrow or repurpose equipment and materials before buying new.
  • Prioritise low-impact, recyclable supplies.
  • Avoid single-use plastics on set, including catering and water bottles.
  • Reuse set dressing, props and costumes when possible.

Filming & production

  • Plan shoots with environmental impact in mind, limiting unnecessary travel, kit or location use.
  • Use local crew, suppliers and locations wherever possible.
  • Provide digital call sheets and production documents.
  • Partner with vendors and venues that demonstrate sustainable practice.

Transportation

  • Encourage public transport, cycling or walking where practical.
  • Promote remote collaboration tools to reduce unnecessary travel.
  • Encourage car-sharing and low-emission vehicles for cast and crew.
  • Offset carbon emissions where significant travel is unavoidable.

Monitoring & improvement

  • Regularly review and update our environmental practices and targets.
  • Keep full compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Collect feedback from staff and production partners to find new areas for improvement.

Culture & communication

  • Review and update this policy at least once a year, or after significant operational change.
  • Involve the team in developing and implementing the policy.
  • Treat sustainability as part of good filmmaking practice, not a constraint on it.
