It's a creative discipline in its own right, one that shapes the emotional arc of a film, controls its pace and rhythm, and determines whether an audience stays with it to the end or switches off after thirty seconds. A great edit can elevate average footage. A poor one can squander the best material in the world.
At Klaxon, our editors are involved from early in the production process, not just handed a hard drive and left to get on with it. That continuity matters. When your editor understands the creative intent behind every shot, every interview, every sequence, the decisions they make in the cut are informed by the whole picture, not just what's in front of them.
We work meticulously through every element that makes a film feel finished: selecting the moments that carry genuine emotion, building pace that serves the story, choosing music that enhances rather than overwhelms, and sweating the small details that most viewers will never consciously notice but would immediately feel if they were missing.
From a tight social cut to a long-form documentary, we approach every edit with the same care and the same question: what does this film need to be as good as it can possibly be?
It varies depending on the length and complexity of the project. A short social cut might be turned around in a day or two. A long-form documentary or corporate film with multiple contributors could take several weeks. We always agree a realistic post-production timeline upfront and build in rounds of client feedback.
Our standard process includes three rounds of client revisions, which is sufficient for the vast majority of projects. We use Frame.io for all client feedback, it lets you leave time-coded comments directly on the video, which makes the amends process fast, clear and straightforward for everyone. Additional revision rounds can be accommodated where needed, we'd agree the terms of these at the project outset.
Yes. If you have existing footage that needs editing, whether shot by us, another company, or in-house, our editors can work with it. We'd want to review the material first to make sure we have everything needed to deliver the edit you're looking for.
We work in Adobe Premiere Pro, the industry-standard editing platform used across broadcast, commercial and digital production. All project files are delivered in Premiere Pro format, and we're happy to share sequences or project files directly if your team needs to make changes downstream.
